Our Facility

Since opening our doors at our Ontario location in 2009, The Humane Society of Richland County has provided a safe and loving environment for thousands of the most vulnerable animals in our community, until their forever families are found.
Facility Features

Spacious Canine Accommodations
8 indoor/outdoor runs for large breeds, 16 full-sized kennels, and two dedicated outdoor play yards for exercise and socialization.

Comfortable Feline Housing
100 cat suites alongside a large, free-roaming communal room for resident cats to play and stretch.

Specialized Maternity & Nursery Care
A quiet, private whelping room designed specifically for pregnant and nursing dogs.

Meet-And-Greet Space
A cozy, private playroom where potential adopters can spend quality time getting to know their future family members.

1884 | Rooted in Compassion
Founded as the Mansfield Humane Society to protect local animals, seniors, and children.
Focusing Our Mission
As specialized human services emerged, we shifted our full focus to animal care and protection.
1971 | Non-Profit Status
Officially recognized as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
1984-2005 | Growing With Our Community
Expanded our reach to become the Humane Society of Richland County.
2006 | Standing Up Against Cruelty
Appointed official Humane Agents to investigate animal neglect and prosecute offenders.
2009 | A New Chapter
Opened the doors to our current facility to serve more animals in need.
